Character Creation - Heritage

In The Worlds as One, the circumstances of your birth can mean very little in terms of your potential in life. However, the physiology associated with heritage cannot be fully ignored, and neither can the types of activities, events and culture a would-be adventurer was steeped in be discounted. A character's heritage can (but by no means must) suggest an array of physical, emotional and mental traits that the creation process builds upon. Here we find one example of a common heritage many adventurers share.

Heritage profile – Humans

Before the Calamity, humans were native and widespread on both Euos and Rainien. That said, the traits associated with being human can vary quite a bit depending on where a character hails from. Human physiology sits at the center of most spectra for tallfolk – standing between 140 and 200 centimeters with some outliers and consummate mass dependent on build. Skin coloration varies widely from deep rich browns to translucent pink-whites, and is generally consistent across the body with only gentle gradients (though even this is a vague generality). Hair is much the same, trending from jet to stark white, passing through blondes, ambers, reds and browns along the way. They achieve maturity as they reach their second decade of life and can continue adventuresome lifestyles into their sixth without magical assistance.

Humans raised in Euosan communities have – either through direct exposure, or through the tales

and traditions of their elders – come to know the powers that radiate through both the world and themselves. This cultural preparation lends them an advantage when pursuing the arcane arts or cultivating the esoteric aspects of divinity and philosophy. On the power-barren world of Rainien, humans turned to their crafts and collective effort in order to flourish, and these traditions are still imperted on the youth of today. Rainienni humans tend to grow up playing games and learning lessons that sharpen their wits and teach them how to work in coordination with others.

Regardless of where they are from, humans tend to pick up disparate tricks and knacks throughout their early lives that can have little to do with their life-path or profession, and their tendency to call anywhere home as long as they have their people around them can lead to varied and hard to predict difficulties and shortcomings.
